This year the school is holding a Christmas Craft Fair in the school hall in aid of school funds.
We hope the craft fair will include Christmas crafts, Christmas cakes and home-baking, knitted goods, Christmas cards and loads of other Christmas gifts and goodies.
It is hoped the school children will provide cards, crafts etc. We would be very grateful for donations of Christmas baking,( eg fruit cakes, cookies, cupcakes), knitted goods etc.
We will be holding a raffle ‘Guess the weight of the Christmas cake’!
Tea and hot mince pies, hot chocolate with marshmallows and a Christmas cookie will be on offer to warm you all up on cold winters evening.
Recently we have been putting up art displays in the school hall. They feature a wide array of artwork from students throughout all of the classrooms.
The Infant Room
The Infant Room have been working on self portraits to tie in with them learning about themselves and their body parts and families, in SPHE and Science.
The Middle Room
The Middle Room have been working on still life drawings. They each had to partner up and paint a portrait of each other. They all had to work in pairs and co-operate in order to get the portraits done.
The Senior Room
The Senior Room have been focusing on ‘Friendship Trees’ – in which they use their finger prints, dipped in paint, to represent one leaf of a tree. This ties in with SPHE, in which they learned about friendship. The artwork shows that they are all unique, but that they stem from one common place, as the individual leaves come together to make one common tree.
Our school is now due to commence work on the theme ‘Energy’ – this will be an on-going programme over the 2 year renewal period.
What is energy?…….power derived from the utilization of physical or chemical resources, especially to provide light and heat or to work machines.
In the 2014/2015 academic year Green-Schools in Ireland saved 15.6 million units of electricity, enough to make 13 million slices of toast!
This school years holidays and important dates are under the heading Calendar.
