Science Week 10th – 14th November
As it was science week, a lot of emphasis was put on science experiments where pupils carried out the investigations.
Pupils learned about primary colours and what happens when they are mixed. Pupils dipped half of the kitchen roll into a glass jar full of red food dye. They turned it around and dipped the other half of the kitchen roll into blue dye. In the middle of the paper, pupils began to see the red and blue blending together to make purple. Once dried pupils discussed the colours and took them home.
Pupils used plastic shopping bags and wool/string to create a home-made kite. Pupils brought these outside and had a kite race.
Pupils worked in pairs to create a telephone using foam cups and string. Pupils talked in loud/soft/funny voices to their partners who tried to figure out what they were saying.
Pupils discussed the meaning of floating/sinking. Certain objects were tested such as scissors, paper clips, crayons, ball, etc. Pupils predicted what would happen, if they thought the object would float they held up their yes (green tick) card. If they thought it would sink they held up their no (red x) card.
