We have been very busy in the middle room!!!
We gathered some of our artifacts and documents from when we were babies.We have grown a lot!
We have also recorded some of our family tree.Some of us learned that we have grandparents from diffeent places and that they had some unusual surnames.
We looked up the 1911 census for the drumfries area on www.cso.ie. We discovered that some of our surnames were not recorded in this area 100 years ago! Can you find your relations from 1911 or even 1909?
We have also managed to find our way around the area using satellite images and maps from Ordinance Survey Ireland www.osi.ie and google maps.
The O.S. maps showed that the school has moved and that some houses have been built since the last images we taken- Can you find your homes using these maps?- We think its pretty cool! 🙂
We are also curious to learn about what life was like when our grandparents were our age and we’ve come up with quite a few questions! Hopefully our parents and grandparents will be able to help us record our answers!
